Pacifics Fall to Maui

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Eri Yoshida, the 20-year-old female Japanese "Knuckle Princess" held the San Rafael Pacifics to one hit over five innings, as the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (35-27) won 13-4 at Albert Park on Wednesday night.

Yoshida (4-6) allowed two runs, walked three and struck out two, besting San Rafael starter Steve Detwiler (0-1). The San Rafael High product lasted just two innings, allowed seven hits, nine runs, walked two and struck out one. The Pacifics made four errors in a six-run second inning.

Second baseman Henry Calderon had a hit and drove in three runs for San Rafael, and Johnny Woodard scored a run and added an RBI sacrifice fly. Will Wright added two hits for the Pacifics (31-25), who fell out of first place for the first time in 2012, and now trail Maui (35-27) by one game.

On Thursday, Terra Linda High grad and former Boston Red Sox lefthander Bill "Spaceman" Lee, is slated to pitch for San Rafael, as the Pacifics look to snap a five-game losing streak. Online sales have ended for Thursday's game, and there will be a limited number of tickets available for walk-ups. The ticket booth will open one hour early (5:15 p.m.) to accommodate an expected sell-out crowd. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
