SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (Aug. 22, 2012) - The San Rafael Pacifics will honor 7-year-old cancer survivor, Ivy Batmale, prior to Friday night's game with the Maui Na Koa Ikaika, team minority owner and special assistant to the president, Eugene Lupario, said.

Batmale, a second grader at Neil Cuming School in Corte Madera who has just recently competed treatment for Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the 7:15 p.m. start.

"She's a fighter, she's coming back strong," Ivy's father, Lou Batmale, said. "She loves going to the Pacifics games, and wants to thank everyone at UCSF, Camp O'Kizu and her family - especially her brother Adrian, and her sisters Grace and Keely."

The mission of Okizu is to provide peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs to meet the needs of all members of families affected by childhood cancer.

There will be a donation tray at the Guest Information table before and during Friday's game. All donations will go directly to Okizu, a 501(c)(3) organization.
