SAN ANGELO- The San Angelo Colts pounded Rio Grande Valley pitching for six first inning runs, four fourth inning runs, and 18 hits to beat the WhiteWings 13-1 at Foster Field in front of 2,265 fans Thursday night.

Rio Grande Valley starter Erinzon Bautista (2-2) could not retire a single batter in the first inning, allowing five hits and as many runs.

Meanwhile, Mark Willinsky (9-5) threw eight strong innings for the Colts (44-41), allowing one run, six hits, one walk, and striking out eight.

Daryl Jones' ninth home run of the season in to the bullpen in left field highlighted San Angelo's fourth inning rally off Clint Bowker.

Jones, JJ. Sherrill and Danny Hernandez, who came into the game batting .190, both collected three hits for the Colts. Jones drove in three runs while Sherrill, whose line included a triple, and Hernandez drove in two.

Meanwhile, Salvador Paniagua, who was traded to San Angelo from Rio Grande Valley for Michael Pair last week, was collected two hits, scored two runs and drove in another. Pair struck out three times and the Colts stole three bases against him.

The two teams will meet again at 7:05 p.m. for the second game of their four game series Friday night. Luis Noel (8-2) pitches for the WhiteWings (48-36) against lefthander Demetrius Banks (5-5).
