Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins shutout the Springfield Falcons 3-0 Sunday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Zach Hamill, Jeff LoVecchio and Jamie Arniel. Dany Sabourin recorded his second shutout of the season stopping all 26 shots he faced. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for T-Shirt Night against the Manchester Monarchs.
After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 18:10 mark. Mikko Lehtonen took a shot from the top of the left face-off circle and the puck was tipped in front of the net off the stick of John Lammers. The loose puck ended up on the stick of Hamill, who tallied his eighth goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins made it 2-0 at the 1:24 mark of the third period. The Falcons turned the puck over in their own end and LoVecchio picked it up in the slot. He fired it into the back of the net for his team leading 12th goal of the season. Providence finished off the scoring at the 12:11 mark. Hamill had the puck in his own end and worked it into the neutral zone for Lammers. He found Arniel along the left boards who pushed the puck into the net for his eighth goal of the season. The P-Bruins went on to the 3-0 victory.
Andrew Penner made 33 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins are back in action at The Dunk Friday at 7:05 p.m. for T-Shirt Night against the Monarchs. Providence plays their only road game of the weekend Saturday at the MassMutual Center against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the week at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Falcons.
