P-Bruins Shutout 2-0 By Manchester

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 2-0 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for Lehtonen Poster Night against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Monarchs took a 1-0 advantage at the 8:52 mark of the opening period. Corey Elkins tallied his ninth goal of the season, while David Meckler and Richard Clune recorded the assists. Manchester led 1-0 going into the first intermission.

The Monarchs made it 2-0 at the 5:47 mark of the second period. Clune netted his second goal of the season, while Kevin Westgarth picked up the lone assist. Manchester held a 2-0 advantage going into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the Monarchs held on for the 2-0 victory.

Kevin Regan stopped 22 of 24 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jonathan Bernier made 36 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins are back in action Friday at The Dunk for Lehtonen Poster Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Sound Tigers. Providence heads on the road Saturday to the MassMutual Center to face the Springfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the weekend Sunday at The Dunk against the Lowell Devils at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game.
