Abbotsford Heat News Release

HAMILTON ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs David Desharnais scored a shorthanded goal mid way through the second period to lead the way to a 3-0 win over the Abbotsford HEAT on Sunday afternoon in the Steel City.

The speedy Dogs forward intercepted a loose puck at centre ice and sped away on a shorthanded breakaway, beating Matt Kettley on the deke at 13:00 of period two and launching hundreds of teddy bears on the ice during the Dogs annual holiday toy toss at Copps Coliseum.

Garret Stevenson scored a power play goal early in the third period and Brock Trotter lifted a shot the length of the ice into the empty net in the final minute to seal the win for the Dogs.

Cedrick Desjardins turned aside twenty shots on the evening to register his fourth shutout of the season and the first shutout against the Abbotsford Heat in team history.

The Heat finish this three game road trip 1-2 and their six game stretch against the top clubs in the AHL's North Division 3-3.

Abbotsford will fly home to face the Peoria Rivermen, the St. Louis Blues affiliate, with games on Saturday and Sunday evening at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.

Game time for both games will be at 6 pm.
