P-Bruins fall to Worcester in overtime

The Providence Bruins and Worcester IceCats kicked off their 10-game season series on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, with the IceCats taking a 2-1 overtime decision. Despite the loss, the Bruins picked up a point in the standings, and are now tied with Worcester for fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 2-2-1-1 record (6 points).

Bruin left wing David Gove scored his team's only goal of the game, his first of the year, at 12:31 of the third period. Right wing Yorick Treille and defenseman Jayme Filipowicz had the assists.

Left wing Andy Hilbert had his five-game point streak snapped on Sunday. He had 5-2-7 totals over that span.

Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 26 shots in taking the loss and is now 2-2-0 on the season.

The Black and Gold hits the road for its next four games, beginning on Friday, October 29 at 7:05 p.m., when it visits Worcester. The Bruins take on the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. before heading to Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Bruins face off with the Bears on Saturday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 7 at 5:00 p.m. The action for all four games will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550, and the team website, www.providencebruins.com.

The Bruins return home to host the Hershey Bears on Friday, November 12 at 7:05 p.m. Fans will receive a free Providence Bruins magnet schedule, courtesy of Shaw's Supermarkets.
