
Ducks edge Americans in shootout , 2-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Michael Holmqvist scored the deciding goal in the overtime shootout to give the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks a 2-1 victory over the Rochester Americans Sunday at Cincinnati Gardens.
Kurtis Foster scored a power-play goal in the first period for Cincinnati, which improved its record to 4-1-0-0, the second best start in franchise history.
Ilya Bryzgalov raised his record to 4-0-0 with 38 saves for the Ducks, including five stops in overtime.
Chris Taylor had the lone goal for Rochester, which remained winless at 0-2-2-0. Former Duck and Ohio State product Tom Askey had 28 saves in the loss.
The Ducks complete a three-game homestand Friday against San Antonio at 7:35 p.m. at Cincinnati Gardens.
