P-Bruins Fall to Monarchs 2-1

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 Monday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in the sixth game of this best-of-seven Atlantic Division Final Playoff series. The Monarchs won the series 4 games to 2. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Jeff Hoggan.

The Monarchs took the 1-0 lead at the 7:29 mark of the opening period. Only six seconds into their first power play of the game, the Monarchs Marty Murray passed the puck to Brian Boyle, who was all alone in front of the net. He sent the puck through the legs of P-Bruins net minder Hannu Toivonen and into the goal. Oleg Tverdovsky had the second assist. Providence tied the game at one at the 10:20 mark. Sean Curry banked the puck off the right boards and into the zone for David Krejci. He sent a cross-ice pass to Hoggan who scored from the left face off circle.

In the second period, Manchester retook the lead at the 6:09 mark. Tim Jackman scored from right outside the crease with Murray and Brendan Buckley recording the assists.

After a scoreless third period the Monarchs went on to win the game 2-1 and the series 4 games to 2.

Toivonen stopped 25 of 27 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Jason LaBarbera made 27 saves for the Monarchs. Providence was 0 for 4 on the power play, while Manchester went 1 for 5 on the man-advantage.
