Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats defenseman Johnny Boychuk has been named a nominee for the 2007 InterContinental Hotels Group Ironman Award by the Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA).

Boychuk was one of 20 players from the American Hockey League to be nominated for the award. The award is presented annually to the PHPA member who participated in each of his club's regular season games and contributed both offensively and defensively throughout the 2006-07 season, with primary consideration placed on games played, points and plus/minus statistics.

Boychuk appeared in all 80 regular season games for the River Rats, becoming the first Albany player to appear in every regular season game since Scott Cameron in 2002-03. The Edmonton, Alberta native led Albany defensemen in goals (10) and finished second in points (28). Boychuk also appeared in five Calder Cup playoff games for the River Rats, recording one goal and one assist.

A selection committee comprised of PHPA officials will announce the winners at the PHPA Annual Meeting of Player Representatives in June.
