HAMILTON, ON - Eric Manlow had two goals, including the game-tying tally in the third period and the overtime winner, as the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped the Manitoba Moose 3-2 on Monday night in Game 6 of their playoff series at the MTS Centre. The Bulldogs have now won the North Division Final series 4-2 and will meet the Chicago Wolves in the Western Conference Final.
Manitoba opened the scoring just 1:38 into the first period when Brad Moran registered his fifth goal of the series. Moran took a pass from Jason Jaffray in front of the Bulldogs net and quickly snapped home a shot to make the score 1-0.
On a 5-on-3 power play at 4:07 of the middle stanza, the Moose took a 2-0 lead courtesy of Brandon Reid's second marker of the post-season. Nathan Smith and Jaffray earned assists on the goal.
Corey Locke got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard at 11:11 of the third period with his seventh goal of the playoffs. Locke's initial shot hit the post but the puck bounced off of Moose goaltender Wade Flaherty and into the back of the net.
At 13:58 of the final frame, 'Dogs veteran forward Eric Manlow notched his third goal of the post-season to even the score 2-2. Michael Lambert ripped a hard shot that was stopped by Flaherty but Manlow picked up the rebound and buried a wrist shot into the top corner.
In overtime, Manlow struck again at the 5:18 mark after taking a pass from Andrew Archer and fooling Flaherty with a quick wrist shot to the glove side. The goal was Manlow's second of the night and propelled the Bulldogs to the North Division crown.
Between the pipes, Carey Price backstopped the 'Dogs to the win with 40 saves on 42 shots while Flaherty turned aside 22 of 25 shots in a losing effort for the Moose.
