
P-Bruins Fall to IceCaps 5-1

St. John's, NFLD -- The Providence Bruins fell to the St. John's IceCaps 5-1 this evening at the Mile One Centre. Joe Morrow scored his first goal of the season in the loss. Malcom Subban, in his first professional start, made 36 saves for Providence.
St. John's came out with some bite, as they found the back of the net 12:32 into the first, off of Eric O'Dell's second goal of the season. Kael Mouillierat and Will O'Neill had the assists. Brenden Kichton doubled the IceCaps' lead 5 minutes later as his slap shot from the point, found it's way to the back of Subban's net . Ben Chiarot and Jerome Samson picked up the assists. St. John's led 2-0 going into the first intermission.
St. John's continued to control much of the play in the second. They took a 3-0 lead at 9:16 of the second on a goal by Samson. O'Neill and Kichton recorded the assists. The period ended with the IceCaps up 3-0.
The IceCaps continued the scoring, just 4 minutes into the 3rd, as O'Dell converted his second goal of the game. Samson and Mouillierat grabbed the assists. Providence finally got on the board at the 5:48 mark of the 3rd as Morrow recorded his first goal of the season on a wrist shot that found it's way past Eddie Pasquale. Justin Florek and Tyler Randell had the assists. O'Dell completed his hat trick with 5 seconds to go in the game, as he passed the puck into the empty net. Chiarot recorded the lone assist as the IceCaps went onto the 5-1 victory.
The IceCaps finished the game outshooting the P-Bruins 41-37. Subban finished with 36 saves, while Pasquale had 36 saves as well. Providence went 0-for-4 on the power play and was 1-for-3 on the penalty kill.
