
P-Bruins Fall to Falcons 5-2

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jamie Arniel and Kirk MacDonald. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 7 at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Manchester Monarchs.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 5:13 mark of the opening period. David Ling picked up a loose puck in front of the net and dropped it off for Arniel, who tallied his 13th goal of the season. Springfield tied the game at one at the 11:15 mark. Chris D'Alvise netted his fourth goal of the season, while Jonathan Sigalet and Trevor Frischmon picked up the assists. The Falcons took their first lead of the game at the 17:01 mark. Steven Goertzen scored his third goal of the season, with Frischmon and Nick Holden recording the assists. The Falcons led 2-1 going into the first intermission.
Springfield made it 3-1 at the 2:39 mark of the second period. Maksim Mayorov tallied his eighth goal of the season, while John Moore and Nikita Filatov grabbed the assists. The Falcons took a 4-1 lead at the 15:56 mark. Filatov scored his first goal of the season, with David Savardgetting the lone assist. The Falcons led 4-1 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins pulled within two goals at the 9:39 mark. MacDonald blocked a shot giving him a breakaway, which he scored on, his fifth goal of the season. Springfield finished off the scoring at the 14:48 mark. Ben Guite netted his fourth goal of the season, while Mike Blunden and Nate Guenin had the assists. The Falcons went onto the 5-2 victory.
Nolan Schaefer stopped 19 of 24 shots for the P-Bruins, while David LeNeveu made 13 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.
Providence is back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 7 for Kid's Hat Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Monarchs.
