Falcons Host the Bruins Sunday

The Springfield Falcons and Providence Bruins start their post holiday schedule the same way they went into their holiday break, going head to head in an Atlantic Division showdown. The Falcons and Bruins will meet for the fourth time in the month of December when they drop the puck at 3 pm on Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center. Tickets are still available at the MassMutual Center Box Office starting at 11 am on Sunday.

The Falcons are 3-3 against the Bruins this year posting a record of 3-1 on the road against Providence and 0-2 at the MassMutual Center. Neither team has been able to win back to back games in the season series thus far. The Falcons lead the Bruins by one point in the Atlantic Division standings and after Sunday's game, these two rivals will not meet again until February 4.

Rookie Matt Calvert remains the Falcons active leader in scoring against Providence this year with four goals and one assist for five points in six games. Mike Blunden is tied with Calvert for most goals against the Bruins this year with four, while David Savard has five assists in five games against the Bruins. Defenseman Grant Clitsome is averaging a point a game against the Bruins this year with three goals and one assist in four games. Falcons goaltender David LeNeveu has posted a mark of 2-1 with a 1.62 goals against average and .944 save percentage against Providence this year.

Providence's Maxime Sauve leads the Bruins in scoring against the Falcons with six goals and one assist for seven points in six games played. Sauve recorded a hat trick against the Falcons back on October 9, and he also had two goals on December 19. Bruins netminder Nolan Schaefer has posted a record of 2-1 against the Falcons with a 1.97 goals against average and .918 save percentage.

The Falcons will start a stretch of five games in seven days this week on Sunday. Springfield heads to Manchester on Monday, hosts Worcester on Wednesday, travels to Adirondack on Friday before hosting Manchester on Saturday.

The Bruins will also play five games in seven days this week as they head to Portland Tuesday, travel to Manchester on Friday, visit Connecticut on Saturday before going to Bridgeport on Sunday.

FALCONS NOTES

Falcons defenseman John Moore recorded his first three-point game of his pro career collecting one goal and two assists at Bridgeport last Friday. Moore has one goal and four assists in his last three games and leads all Falcons defensemen in scoring with two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 30 games.

Jonathan Sigalet has two goals and one assist in his last four games.

David Savard scored his first pro goal on December 17 at Bridgeport. He has one goal and two assists in his last three games.

Chris D'Alvise has goals in back-to-back games heading into Sunday's action.

BRUINS NOTES

Maxime Sauve is on a three-game scoring streak collecting two goals and two assists in that span.

Jamie Arniel has recorded a point in four of his last five games posting two goals and two assists in that span.

Kirk MacDonald has goals in back-to-back games heading into Sunday's contest.

Goaltender Nolan Schaefer has won three of his last four starts.
