Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 8-3 Sunday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got a hat trick from Pascal Pelletier and goals from Jay Leach, Ben Guite, Mark Stuart, David Lundbohm, and Nate Thompson. The P-Bruins are now 29-22-1-2 on the season, 61 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.

The P-Bruins got on the board first at the 5:55 mark of the opening period. Guite skated down the right wing and dropped the puck off for Leach who was trailing the play. He shot the puck past Penguins goaltender Andy Chiodo to give Providence a 1-0 lead. The P-Bruins took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission when Guite scored a five on three power play goal. Nathan Robinson and Michael Schutte had the assists.

The Penguins cut the lead in half in the beginning of the second period when Erik Christensen scored his first of two goals at the 2:51 mark. Providence answered back 18 seconds later when Stuart scored from the left face off circle on a play set up by Eric Healey. With Wilkes-Barre on the power play Scott Ford cleared the puck up ahead to Lundbohm who put the puck past Chiodo to give the P-Bruins a 4-1 lead. Providence added one more in the second period when Ford dumped the puck into the zone and it took a strange bounce off the boards. The puck came right to Pelletier and he scored on an open net.

In the third period the P-Bruins scored three more times to take an 8-1 lead. Thompson scored at the 8:21 mark with Jeremy Reich getting the assist. Pelletier then scored twice within 22 seconds with Robinson and Guite both picking up their second assists of the game. Wilkes-Barre made the final score a little closer tallying twice on the power play in final minutes. Chrtistensen scored his second goal of the game, while Stephen Dixon scored the other goal. The P-Bruins went on to win by an 8-3 final.

Jordan Sigalet stopped 21 of 24 shots for the P-Bruins, while Andy Chiodo stopped 26 of 32 shots and Dany Sabourin made five saves on seven shots for the Penguins. The P-Bruins were 1 for 6 on the power play, while Wilkes-Barre was 2 for 7 on the man-advantage.
