Lowell, Mass. - For the second straight game, Paul Healey scored two goals to help carry the Lowell Lock Monsters (22-27-4-5) to a 4-1 victory over the Springfield Falcons (19-27-2-6) at Tsongas Arena on Sunday evening.

The Lock Monsters controlled the play in the first period. They took eight of the first nine shots in the contest, and outshot the Falcons 15-4 through the opening 20 minutes. G Gerald Coleman was strong, however, stopping every shot that came his way. Lowell had a brilliant chance to take the lead with just over four minutes remaining in the period on a two man break with Keith Aucoin and Paul Healey, but Healey's shot just missed the net off the right post.

Healey lit the lamp early in the second, though. His redirection of a Johnny Boychuk shot gave him 11 power play markers on the season, tying a club record. Chris Dingman tied the game for the Falcons later in the period, redirecting home his eighth of the season at 16:20. Lowell wasn't finished, however, and regained the lead in the final minute of the period. Krys Kolanos notched his fifth of the season when he punched in a rebound with just 52 seconds left. Tyler Weiman saw more action between the pipes in the second, facing 14 Springfield shots.

The Monsters extended the lead in the third. Leon Hayward potted his first of the season, picking the top right corner with a wrister over the glove hand of Coleman to make it 3-1. Weiman held the lead the rest of the way. He made 23 of his 27 saves over the final 40 minutes in earning the second star of the night. Springfield pulled their netminder with just over two minutes left, and Healey added his second of the contest into the open cage.

The Monsters return to action on Thursday night in Springfield. Game time is 7:05. They host two games this coming weekend, with Bridgeport in town on Friday night for a 7:35 p.m. match and Hartford on Sunday at 4:05.
