P-Bruins Cruise Past Sharks 8-2

Providence, R.I. - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 8-2 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Nick Johnson, Carter Camper, Craig Cunningham, Ben Youds, Chris Casto and Rob Flick each had a goal, while Anthony Camara scored twice for the P-Bruins. Malcolm Subban made 33 saves for the victory.

The scoring start early in the opening frame at the 2:33 mark when Johnson scored his 14th goal of the season. Alexander Khokhlachev and David Warsofsky picked up the assists. Providence scored again to make it 2-0 at the 4:45 mark. Justin Florek attempted to slide the puck past Sharks goaltender Harri Sateri but it trickled out of the crease and onto the stick of Camper who scored his eighth goal of the season. Youds grabbed the second assist. Less than a minute later Camara took a quick pass on the stick side of Sateri and scored at the 5:46 mark, his fifth goal of the season. Andrew Cherniwhcan and Casto had the assists as the P-Bruins took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The P-Bruins continued to pour on the scoring tallying at the 6:34 mark of the second period to make it 4-0. Cunningham scored on the man advantage to tally his 13th goal this season. Florek and Seth Griffith had the assists on a dynamic play from the power play unit. Worcester got on the board at the 16:10 mark on a 5-on-3 power play. Dylan DeMelo scored his first goal of the season on a hard wrist shot from the blue line. Marek Viedensky and Adam Comrie recorded the assists. The P-Bruins fired back when Subban made a save outside of his crease on a Sharks breakaway opportunity. The P-Bruins picked up the puck of the rebound and Youds scored off a nice play from Khokhlachev and Johnson at the 18:58 mark. It was Youds' second goal this season as the P-Bruins took a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.

Providence made it 6-1at the 5:59 mark of the third period. Casto scored his second goal of the season with a lot of traffic in front of the net. Camara and Bobby Robins had the helpers. Camara added to his point total for the night scoring his second goal of the game and sixth goal of the season at the 7:21 mark, while on the power play, with Camper and Youds receiving the assists. The P-Bruins made it 8-1 when Flick scored his first of the season at the 13:32 mark, while on the power play. The goal was assisted by Casto and David Warsofsky. Worcester made it 8-2 with only 3:30 remaining in the third. Travis Oleksuk tallied his fourth goal of the season, while Dan DaSilva and Viedensky had the assists. The P-Bruins sailed to victory 8-2.

Subban stopped 33 of 35 shots for the P-Bruins, while Sateri finished with 31 saves for the Sharks. Providence went 3-for-8 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 10 at 7:05pm against the Syracuse Crunch.
