Binghamton Unable to Extend Streak; Fall 4-1 to Penguins

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton was unable to make it eight consecutive victories as they fell 4-1 to the Wilkes-Barre Penguins in their fourth game in six nights. Zack Torquato and Barry Goers finished with a goal and an assist a piece to lead the Penguins past the B-Sens, cutting Binghamton's division lead over Wilkes-Barre to just one point.

Anton Zlobin started things off for Wilkes-Barre just past the midway point of the first when he redirected a centering feed from Goers behind the net beating Nathan Lawson and giving the hosts the 1-0 lead. Lawson and his counterpart, Eric Hartzell, clamped down the remainder of the opening period sending the teams to the locker room with the Penguins leading 1-0.

Nick Drazenovic added to the Penguins lead at the 4:14 mark of the second period with his seventh goal of the year off assists from Harry Zolnierczyk and Scott Harrington making it 2-0. Binghamton cut the lead down to one when Cole Schneider converted on the power play for the Sens at 10:53 off a feed from Matt Puempel, but it was all Penguins from there. Torquato returned the host's team lead to two goals when he notched his second tally of the year unassisted at 17:46 of the period sending Binghamton down 3-1 heading into the final frame of regulation.

Goers added a strike for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 6:35 into the final frame to push the final score to 4-1 Penguins and end the Senators seven-game win streak. Lawson finished with 25 saves on 29 shots faced in the losing effort while Hartzell earned his second win over the B-Sens in as many appearances stopping 23 of 24 shots faced to improve to 5-2-1 for the year.

Binghamton resumes action on Wednesday when they travel to Rochester for a 7:05p.m. face off versus the Americans.
