Owlz Shutout by Rockies, Again

(Orem, UT) The Orem Owlz (14-32) were shutout for the second consecutive night as their scoreless streak reached 18 innings in a 6-0 loss to the Grand Junction Rockies (25-21) on Saturday night at the Home of the Owlz.

Jose Natera made his first start for the Owlz since back on September 4th, 2018 in Grand Junction. The Rockies got to Natera in the first inning, scoring a run on a Christian Koss ground out, putting the Rockies on top, 1-0. Grand Junction scored two more runs in the second inning. After getting a double play ball, Natera walked back-to-back batters and then gave up a two-run double to Jack Yalowitz, extending the lead to 3-0.

The Owlz were shutout for the second straight night. The Owlz hit into three double plays and left seven runners on base. Grand Junction went on to score two more runs in the fifth inning on a Brenton Doyle double and added another in the ninth on a Koss single.

Jared Horn (1-0) tossed five shutout innings to earn the win while Natera (0-1) was charged with the loss. The Owlz and the Rockies will finish the series on Sunday afternoon at 4:05. Kelvin Moncion makes the start for the Owlz against Helcris Olivarez for the Rockies.
