Voyagers Drop Twin Bill in Missoula

Missoula, MT - The Voyagers head into the four-day all-star break after losing both games of a doubleheader to the Missoula Osprey Saturday night at Ogren Park-Allegiance Field. Great Falls (3-6, 18-28) has lost six straight, and fell to 2-10 against Missoula in the season series. The Voyagers are 8-17 on the road. The Osprey (6-3, 26-21) have won four in a row, and improved to 14-13 at home. Missoula is 23-16 against the North Division, including seven consecutive wins against Great Falls.
The Voyagers allowed three home runs in game one and fell 7-1. Missoula opened the scoring with a five-run first. Spencer Brickhouse brought in the first run with an RBI single to left. Liover Peguero made it 4-0 with a three-run home run to left-center. It was his fifth big fly of the season, with all five homers coming against Great Falls. Francis Martinez launched a two-out solo home run to right-center for his team-leading ninth of the season. The Osprey stretched their lead to 7-0 with two more in the third, including a lead-off, solo home run by Marty Herum to left-center for his second of the series. Great Falls only run came across in the fourth on a Sam Abbott solo home run lined hard over the wall in dead center. It was Abbott's team-leading sixth dinger of the season.
On the mound, Nick Marchese posted the win in relief. Marchese (3-1) pitched the final two innings and struck out two with one walk. Chase Solesky took the loss. Solesky went one inning and surrendered five earned runs on five hits (two HR) with one strikeout.
Great Falls held a 2-0 lead in game two before an Osprey comeback sealed the series sweep with a 4-2 victory. The Voyagers pushed the first run of the game across in the third. Jonathan Allen led off with a double to the left field corner. Kelvin Maldonado then drove him in with a base hit to left-center. Great Falls made it 2-0 with another tally in the fifth. Bryan Connell reached with a lead-off single lined into center. With two outs, Connell scored on a Luis Curbelo double up the right field line. Missoula cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Tristen Carranza tripled to right-center with one out. Cesar Garcia drove in Carranza with a single to left. The Osprey vaulted in front with a three-run home half of the sixth. Jose Reyes reached base to start the inning on an error at short. Cam Coursey singled to right. Axel Andueza tied the game with an RBI single. After a double play, Spencer Brickhouse broke the tie with a two-run home run to deep left for a 4-2 lead.
Ezequiel De La Cruz picked up the win. De La Cruz (1-0) pitched two-thirds of an inning and struck out one. Karan Patel suffered the loss. Patel (2-3) worked one inning and gave up three unearned runs on three hits (HR) with one strikeout.
Missoula hit seven home runs in the three-game series. In game one, Marty Herum went 3-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored. Spencer Brickhouse collected two hits and two runs. Tyrus Greene posted two hits in game two for Great Falls. Great Falls returns home after the all-star break for an eight-game home stand that starts Thursday, August 8th against Grand Junction.
