July 25, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

For the second time in three nights, Orem comes away with a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th inning, this time to clinch a playoff berth. Second baseman, Michael Pierson, delivered a single to left field bringing around David Fletcher to secure the 6-5 win, sending the team into a celebratory frenzy. This will be the third consecutive year that the Owlz make a postseason appearance.

The Owlz trailed the Chuckars for the first six innings of play, before exploding in the bottom of the 7th with five runs. With one out and Brendon Sanger on first base, Tanner Lubach reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third after a throwing error by shortstop, Marten Gasparini. The error brought Sanger around to score the Owlz first run of the night.

The runs would not stop there as Lubach scored on Kenny Towns' RBI single, tying the game at 2-2. With two outs, David Fletcher hit an RBI single, scoring Towns and giving the Owlz a one run lead. Michael Pierson then hit an RBI double, his twelfth on the season. Pierson then crossed the plate after Jeff Boehm hit an RBI single, the third RBI hit of the inning.

Leading 5-2 entering the top of the 8th inning, the Chuckars posted 3 runs of their own, to tie the game.

The Owlz maintained their focus in the bottom of the 9th to then lockup a playoff appearance in September.

They now lead the series 3-0 and you can catch the fourth and final game tomorrow at 4:15 P.M. on KPDR-19 or on audio.oremowlz.com. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
