VOYAGERS SWEPT IN DH
The Voyagers fell in both ends of Friday's doubleheader in Missoula, losing game one 10-4 and game two 6-3. The teams traded runs in the first inning of game one, with Great Falls tying it up on a two-run shot by Antonio Rodriguez. The inning that made the difference was the fourth, as the Osprey scored seven to take a 9-2 lead. Dante Flores hit his first pro homer, a two-run shot, to cut the lead to five, but that was as close as the Voyagers got. Missoula drew 11 walks from the Great Falls staff in game one, the most free passes allowed by Voyager pitching this season. In game two, the Osprey once again took an early 2-0 lead. The Voyagers again closed the gap with the long ball as Rodriguez homered again, and Landon Lassiter then tied it with a solo shot in the sixth. Great Falls took the lead later in the frame, as Zach Fish doubled Johan Cruz home to make it 3-2. The Osprey answered in the bottom of the inning. Matt Jones tied the game with an RBI single, before the go-ahead run scored on a Voyager error. Missoula then added two insurance runs on a Raymel Flores single, and a passed ball.
PLAYOFF PICTURE
With last night's sweep at the hands of the Osprey, the Voyagers first half division title hopes took a big hit, as they now trail Missoula by three games with four left to play in the first half. The magic number for the Osprey is two, meaning they can clinch the first half title and a playoff berth with a win tonight over Great Falls at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.
TURN TO TANNER
With their backs against the wall, the Voyagers will turn to southpaw Tanner Banks tonight, to try and keep their playoff hopes alive. The Bluff Dale, Utah, native has been one of the best starting pitchers in the Pioneer League this year, owning the league's lowest ERA among qualified pitchers at 1.39. The left-hander also leads the league in batting average against at .190, and WHIP at 0.74. Banks has been on an especially strong run as of late, as he has tossed three straight quality starts, with three earned runs and 12 hits allowed in his last 18.1 innings. Banks gave up four unearned runs in five innings in his first start against the Osprey this season.
