Freeland Starts Shutout Win over Ogden

Kyle Freeland made his 2015 debut and kept the Ogden Raptors off the board for three innings. After he left, the four men that followed on the mound continued to throw up zeroes in the Grand Junction Rockies 5-0 win Friday night at Suplizio Field.

Freeland didn't allow a hit and struck out three while surrendering just one walk. He threw 42 pitches, 30 for strikes.

Michael Zimmerman and Alec Crawford followed him with two scoreless innings, while Julian Yan and Daniel Koger finished the Rockies second shutout of the season by putting up zeroes in the eighth and ninth innings.

Campbell Wear put the Rockies on the board when he reached on a fielder's choice in the fourth inning, scoring Tyler Nevin from third, and Jensen Park made it 2-0 with a 2-out RBI single in the fifth.

Park struck again in the seventh with a second RBI single, extending the Rockies lead to three, and Grand Junction added a pair in the eighth. Nevin scored on a wild pitch, while Jonathan Piron scored on Wear's single.

Park and Bobby Stahel had two hit nights. Nevin scored twice, and Wear drove home two.

The win gets the Rockies to 20-15 on the season as they guarantee themselves a winning first half for the fourth straight season. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
