Firework Display from Owlz Organization in Victory
July 25, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
OREM - In front of a packed crowd on Pioneer Day, the Orem Owlz bats exploded in celebration of the holiday to give the Owlz a 10-4 over the Idaho Falls Chuckars. Firework plays were provided by the team throughout the game and continued even after with a show in the sky.
Shortstop, David Fletcher, led the way as he went 3-5 on the night with one RBI and two runs. He helped Orem score 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th with his triple that gave the Owlz the lead for good. Brendon Sanger, playing in his first series since coming back from his injury, went 3-4 on the night including a two out, two RBI single in the bottom of the 4th as the Owlz batted through their lineup that inning.
While the bats were popping, the bullpen was dealing once again at home. Four pitchers came in relief tonight and combined to go 7 innings while only giving up four hits and one run. Pitcher, Aaron Cox, picks up the win, his first of the season.
As great as the batting and pitching was, the fielding turned out an impressive performance. Coming in as the best fielding team in the Pioneer League, the Owlz had an unusual four errors last night. They responded just as Manager Dave Stapleton thought they would, with no errors and Fletcher turning a 6-4-3 double play in the 7th.
The Owlz stay atop the Pioneer League and improve to 22-13 on the season while remaining two games ahead of the Grand Junction Rockies. The third game of the series takes place tomorrow night at 7:15 P.M.
