Owlz Fall for the Third Time in Three Games

July 17, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Billings-The Orem Owlz have done a lot of good things over the season this year, but one thing they haven't done was lose three straight games until Wednesday night in Billings. The night started out with rain in the forecast, before a rain delay could even occur the Mustangs found a way to score four runs in the first inning of play which included a three run home run by Kevin Franklin and a solo homerun by Reydel Medina for Billings to open up a 4-0 lead.

After a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning we saw a rain delay which lasted about an hour and despite an hour of no play on the field the Mustangs already set a tone for the night which led to the second shutout of the year for the Owlz.

In the second inning Brantly Bell hit a ground ball that sent Blake Tranhan home for the fifth run of the night and then in the sixth inning Zach Shields found his way home after a hit into the infield to score the final run of the night.

On the offense end for the Owlz they couldn't get the bat swinging in the right direction as they had four hits as a team on the night and saw nine batters struck out when they faced a Mustang pitcher on the mound.

Tomorrow night the Owlz will look to end the losing streak as the same two teams will meet again at Dehler Park in Billings with the first pitch scheduled at 7:05.
