Great Falls Voyagers News Release
OGDEN, Utah (July 17, 2015)Â - The Great Falls Voyagers fell in walk-off fashion Friday night, as the Ogden Raptors claimed a 5-4 win on Friday night at Lindquist Field on a Gage Green homer, to take the season series four games to three.
With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Green took the first pitch he saw from Danny Dopico, and launched it over the wall in right to give the Raptors (15-14) the walk-off win.
Neither team scored in the first three innings of Friday's contest, but Great Falls (14-11) took the lead in the fourth. After Antonio Rodriguez started the inning with a single, Zach Fish hit the first of his two homers, a two-run shot to dead center to put the Voyagers up 2-0.
The lead did not last long as Ogden answered in the home half. The Raptors scored three runs in the frame, all with two outs, to chase Great Falls starter Brandon Magallones.
In the fifth, it was the Voyagers turn to answer. With two on and one out, Frank Califano sacrificed, to bring home the tying run.
Ogden grabbed the lead back in the home half. With two outs, Michael Medina doubled, again giving the Raptors a one-run advantage.
Once again, the lead did not last very long, as Fish led off the sixth inning with his second homer of the night, an opposite field shot to give him his team-leading fifth long ball of the season.
After the middle inning outburst on both sides, things quieted down offensively with neither team seriously threatening. At one point, the Great Falls staff combined to retire eight Raptors in a row, a streak that was ended by the Green homer.
The Voyagers continue their seven-game road trip on Saturday as they open up a four-game set with the Idaho Falls Chukars at Melaleuca Field. Great Falls will send right-hander Evin Einhardt (2-1 3.51) to the mound, while Idaho Falls will counter with southpaw Dylan Sons (0-3, 9.67). First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., and coverage will begin at 7:00 on 1400 AM KXGF and gfvoyagers.com.
