Owlz Bats Spark Team to 11-3 Win
August 11, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
OREM - First baseman Jeff Boehm had a career night, hitting for a season high four RBI's as the Owlz took care of business with an 11-3 win over Missoula. Orem recorded a total of 14 hits as they scored in six of their eight innings they stepped to the plate.
The pitching was just as well for the Owlz as the bullpen had to go deep tonight with Grayson Long on an inning count. The five pitchers out of the bullpen combined to go 8 innings while giving up just seven hits and two earned runs. Overall, the pitchers had great command striking out a total of 10 Osprey batters. Anfernee Benitez got the start for Missoula picking up the loss, giving up four earned off seven hits.
Orem found an opportunity to take advantage of Missoula stealing a total of seven bases in nine attempts. Catcher Francis Christy was a bit off on his throws as Manager Dave Stapleton kept giving the Owlz runners the green light to take off. That continually helped move them into scoring position for another double digit run night.
Shortstop Juan Moreno didn't get much action defensively but provided a spark with his bat in the leadoff spot hitting two RBI's and scoring twice. Ranyelmy Alberto only picked up one official at-bat as he drew four of the seven overall walks.
The Owlz lead the series 1-0 with the second game scheduled for tomorrow at 7:15 P.M.
