GLINES HR WINS IT IN 10TH
After trailing 7-3 heading into the seventh, the Voyagers rallied back and knocked off Grand Junction 8-7 in 10 innings Monday, with a homer by Jackson Glines, his first as a pro, proving to be the game-winner. Danny Dopico then came in for the bottom of the 10th, and struck out the side to earn the save. Both teams' offenses started well, with the Rockies opening up a 7-3 lead after three. That lead held until Great Falls got two in the seventh on an RBI single from Dante Flores and an error. The visitors then got two more in the next inning to tie it up, with Glines grabbing the first of his two RBIs, and Johan Cruz scoring the tying run on a wild pitch.
ASCENDANT ANTONIO
Antonio Rodriguez drove in a pair with a first inning double last night, extending his hitting streak to eight in a row, the longest current streak by a Voyager. The 20-year old has now hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games, raising his season batting average from .227 to .260. The Dominican native is also second on the club with six homers and 30 RBIs, one behind Zach Fish.
FREE PASSES GALORE
Last night's contest was loaded with free passes on both sides, as the two teams combined to take 16 walks, just one shy of their combined hit total of 17. Each team also had three batters reach on hit by pitches, including Jackson Glines and Collin Ferguson twice each. The nine walks by the Voyager offense tied their season-high, a mark they have now reached three times this season. Grant Massey led the way by drawing three base on balls, tied for the most by a Voyager in a single game this season. On the Grand Junction side, the seven walks drawn was also tied for their season-high, done four times previous to last night.
GLINES GETS ON
In addition to hitting his first pro homer last night, Jackson Glines reached three other times, twice when he was hit by a pitch and once on a walk. The former Michigan Wolverine has now reached at least once in every game he has started since July 11. Glines' on-base percentage now sits at .390, which is up 190 points from where it was on July 11 when this run started.
