Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack have traded 19 year old defenseman Markus Phillips to the Guelph Storm in exchange for six draft picks.

The draft picks acquired are: 2019 2nd (PBG), 2020 2nd (MISS), 2021 3rd (ER), 2022 2nd (NB), 2024 3rd (GUE), Conditional 2023 4th (GUE)

The Attack would like to thank Markus Phillips for everything he has done for the franchise since being selected 9th in the 1st round of the OHL priority selection in 2015. The LA Kings prospect has played 228 regular season games with the club scoring 28 times and adding 76 assists. He also played 33 postseason games with the club totaling 8 points.

Phillips recently returned from representing Team Canada at the IIHF World Juniors in British Columbia, where he played five games with three assists while receiving top pairing minutes.

"Markus has been a cornerstone of our defense since the day he came to Owen Sound. He's represented Owen Sound and Canada incredibly well on the international stage" said GM Dale DeGray. "It's hard to move a player of his level, but these picks will allow us to be flexible going forward. It gives our young guys a chance to get quality minutes and develop into top OHL defensemen."

The Attack organization has been greatly improved with the presence of Markus Phillips, and the team will miss his tireless work ethic, dedication to the game and leadership qualities.

The Owen Sound Attack are in action tonight as they take on the North Bay Battalion at the Bayshore at 7:30 p.m.
