Crestwood, IL- Trevor Walch was sensational tonight against the Windy City Thunderbolts (3-9) as he tossed all nine innings in a complete game effort, leading the Otters (10-3) to a 7-0 victory with the help of Ronnie Richardson who drove in four, including his first home run of the season.

Richardson started things off immediately for the Otters in the top of the first inning by singling to left. John Schultz found a hole as well and Shayne Houck's walk loaded the bases for Nik Balog's sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Otters. They would not score any more runs in the frame, but Richardson made sure to clean things up in the next inning.

After a single by JD Dorgan and a double by Jeff Birkofer put runners at the corners and two outs for Richardson, he walked to the plate and on a 1-0 count, drove a ball out towards deep centerfield. With the wind blowing out at Standard Bank Stadium, Richardson had just enough muscle to power the ball out and over the centerfield wall and pushing the Otters lead to 4-0 with one swing of the bat.

The Otters defense was just as good behind Trevor Walch who faced the minimum amount of batters through the first six innings thanks to JD Dorgan nabbing a runner trying to steal in the third and a 4-6-3 double play in the fourth. The boys from Evansville would plate three more in the sixth inning on an RBI fielder's choice by Richardson, his fourth RBI of the game, and a two-run single by Schultz, his fourth RBI in the last two games.

Walch completed the second shutout of the season for an Otters' starter in the ninth inning by getting a groundout with runners on first and third. He finished with seven strikeouts to just one walk and allowed just five hits. Kurt Wertz Jr. has reached base safely in his last eleven games while Richardson and Shayne Houck each have hit safely in their last eight.

The Otters are back at it tomorrow night at 6:05 CDT where they look to secure their fourth series win in a row. You can catch all of the action on WUEV 91.5 FM or on our website with the pregame show starting at 5:45 PM.
