Rascals Drop Series Finale to Washington

River City Rascals News Release


O'Fallon, MO - The Rascals (5-7) dropped the series finale to the Washington Wild Things (4-8) 4-0 on Thursday, May 28 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.

Washington began the scoring in the third inning. Austin Wobrock hit a lead off double and scored on a single by Daniel Poma. David Popkins hit a single moving Poma to third, and a sacrifice fly by C.J. Beatty scored Poma.

Wobrock hit a lead off single in the fifth, and Poma walked. After a bunt, Beatty drove in a run on a groundout to first base.

With two outs in the sixth inning, John Fidanza singled, and Jeudy Valdez walked. Wobrock then hit an infield single, which scored Fidanza, giving Washington a 4-0 lead.

RHP Marc Rutledge (L, 1-2) surrendered four runs, six hits, and five walks. He struck out six hitters over 6.2 innings. RHP Nick Kennedy struck out two hitters over 2.0 innings. RHP Zeb Sneed pitched 0.1 inning of relief.

Kyle Helisek (W, 2-1) tossed 8.0 shutout innings. He allowed six hitters and one walk while striking out six batters. Richie Mirowski pitched 1.0 scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

The Rascals open a three-game series against the Schaumburg Boomers on Friday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. CST at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
