(Florence, KY) - The Florence Freedom (6-7), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, surrendered a season-high three home runs as the Normal CornBelters (9-4) defeated Florence 8-3 Friday night at UC Health Stadium.

Kevin Brahney (3-0) tossed seven shutout innings for Normal to earn the win.

For Florence, Austin Newell continued his hot hitting, lifting a home run the opposite way. Newell's second home run of the season got Florence on the board in the 8th inning.

Sam Eberle was the biggest contributor for the Freedom. The 2014 Frontier League All-Star went two for four in the game with a double and blasted his third home run of the season, a solo shot, in the ninth inning.

Coleman Stephens (2-2) got the start and after fanning Cameron Monger to start the game, Mark Micowski reached on an infield single. Patrick McKenna followed with a towering home run to put Normal ahead 2-0.

Normal tacked on two more runs in the third on a Monger solo home run and a Sam Judah sacrifice fly that drove in Micowski. Monger scored his second run of the game in the fifth to make the score 5-0 in favor of Normal after five frames.

Stephens fired four and a third innings, allowing five runs while fanning four batters to drop his second straight decision.

Daniel DeSimone was effective in his two and two third innings on the bump, allowing only a Richard Lucas solo home run in the eighth. Monger picked up another RBI in the frame, driving in Santiago Chirino on a fielder's choice to make it 7-0.

Normal added to their advantage in the ninth, as Aaron Dudley followed a Sam Judah double with a double of his own to pick up the RBI and make the score 8-1.

Michael Pair added an RBI single in the ninth. Sean Mahley walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Pair drove Mahley home to pick up his fourth RBI of the season.

The Freedom look to turn things around when the rookie Alan Carey gets the start Saturday night. Get your tickets here. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.
