Evansville Otters News Release
June 16, 2009, Evansville, Ind. - The Otters fell behind early Tuesday night and were never able to recover, losing to the Rockford Riverhawks 14-2 at Bosse Field.
The Riverhawks battered starting pitcher Brian Oates, touching up Oates for three home runs in three innings and a 7-0 lead. The offense didn't let up, scoring runs in four of the final five innings. Oates (0-4) has now given up 16 earned runs on 19 hits in his last 7.1 innings pitched.
Tanner Watson, making his 2009 debut with Rockford after three years in a Riverhawk uniform from 2005-07, was solid, allowing one run in five innings and picking up the victory. The twelve run margin of defeat ties the season high for Evansville, which also lost the season opener 13-1 to Southern Illinois. The Otters will attempt to take the rubber match of the three game series tomorrow with first pitch coming at 12:05 CDT.
