Otters Snap Losing Streak With 12-4 Win

(AVON, Ohio)-* *Brandon Cohen, Jake Rogers and Vinnie Scarduzio (pictured) all hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the Evansville Otters 12-4 win over Lake Erie on Sunday night.

The win ended an eight game losing streak for the Otters and marks the end of a nine-game road trip as well.

Third baseman Cody Ross also homered for the Evansville Otters as his shot handed the Otters the 2-0 lead. Lake Erie tied the game in the bottom half as Evansville then regained the lead in the top of the third.

Derek Wiley hit an RBI double and Jake Rogers hit an RBI single later in the inning to go ahead 4-2. The Crushers tied the game later on as well before Greg Alexander pulled the Otters back ahead with a sacrifice fly in the 7thinning.

The Otters held that lead into the top of the 9th inning when Evansville batted around and scored seven runs in the inning against JJ Pacella, one of the top relievers in the Frontier League. Brandon Cohen hit a two-run home run while Jake Rogers and Vinnie Scarduzio also hit solo home runs in the win.

Nick Sottung made his first start pitching six innings in the victory while Jared Simon threw the final 1 2/3 innings for the save.

Evansville is now 15-27 with the win as Lake Erie is currently 23-19.

The Otters return home tonight and will start a six-game homestand at Bosse Field on Tuesday. The Washington Wild Things
