Erie Otters News Release

A hat trick by Jake Marchment helped the Erie Otters to their 42nd win of the season, as Devin Williams held strong in net recording 22 saves against the Guelph Storm.

50 seconds into the game Jake Marchment broke the silence when he pounded in a rebound on the power play to put the Otters up 1-0. A minute later Dylan Strome received a pass from Alex DeBrincat on the door step of the Storm net and quickly buried the puck past Michael Giugovaz to bump the advantage to two. Liam Stevens put Guelph on the board when he shoved one past a sprawled out Williams to decrease the Otters lead to one.

In the second period Erie jumped back to a two goal lead when Marchment unloaded a one timer past Giugovaz to score his second of the game.

Moments after a goal was waved off for Guelph Nick Betz ripped a slap shot that found its way into the Storm net to make it 4-1 early in the third period. Halfway into the frame Kyle Maksimovich set up Vanya Lodnia with a nice feed that he tipped by Giugovaz. Marchment sealed the deal with a tip in goal to secure a hat trick and an Otters 6-1 win.

The Otters will make a trek to Flint on Thursday to duel with the Firebirds at 7:00 p.m.
