
Otters Play First Game at First Place Gateway on Thursday

(SAUGET, ILLINOIS) - The Evansville Otters (33-22) continue their six-game roadtrip with the first of three at the Gateway Grizzlies (37-21).
First pitch is set for 7:05 pm CDT at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois.
Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org . Play by play announcer Mike Radomski will have the call beginning at 6:45 pm CDT.
It is Ladies Night at the Ballpark and there will be a Bachelor Auction as well.
Evansville will have the right-hander Preston Olson (3-3, 2.67 ERA) throwing against Gateway righty Aaron Newcomb (8-2, 4.67 ERA).
Evansville is 53-72 all-time against the Gateway Grizzlies. The Otters won two of three from the Grizzlies when Gateway visited Evansville June 11 and 12 this summer. This is the fourth of six meetings between the two teams this season.
The Otters enter this series after winning two of three games at the Windy City Thunderbolts. Evansville was victorious 2-0 on July 21 then won the series with a 15-5 win on July 22 with a season-high 25 hits. The Otters lost the series finale 6-1 on July 23, the second of two consecutive Splash Days with 10:35 am CDT starts.
The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on Wednesday. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.
Outfielder John Schultz is on a five game hitting streak. DH Jeremy Nowak and infielder Cory Urquhart have hit safely in four straight games.
The Otters are 14-10 on the road and 3-3 since the All-Star break. Evansville is 2-1 on the current roadtrip.
