
Otters nab six all-star slots

EVANSVILLE, IN â The Evansville Otters placed six players on the Frontier League East Division all-star team, it was announced on Tuesday, July 6, 2004.
Evansville is led by two starters in the field. Cole Hilt will start for the East squad at third base. Hilt is fifth in the league in hitting, batting .362 with seven homers and is fourth in the league with 36 RBI. Hilt is leading the league in doubles with 17.
Terrence McClain was also voted as a starter to the East's outfield. McClain is hitting .318 with a homer and 21 RBI. McClain has a .426 on-base percentage and has committed no errors.
Otters' catcher Sean Flynn was also voted onto the team as the backup catcher. Flynn is batting .242 on the season and leads east division catchers triples (2), and homeruns (3) and RBI (23). He is also second in doubles with 10.
Evansville also placed three pitchers on the team. Grant Williams is tied for the league lead in wins with his 6-0 record and is fifth in ERA at 1.99. He is also third in the league in strikeouts with 66. He is making his second all-star game appearance as he represented Cook County in the 2003 contest
Jeremy Lewis has had some tough luck for the Otters this season with just a 3-2 record, but he was voted in on the strength of his ERA of 2.18, which is eighth in the league. He has also walked just 11 batters in 57.2 IP.
Amad Stephens rounds out the Otters who have been voted onto the roster. Stephens is 3-0 this year with an ERA of 1.27 and a league leading 11 saves. In 21.1 innings, he has walked just five while striking out 30.
The final three players to the East Division team will be selected by Washington manager John Massarelli who will skipper the east as the Wild Things will be in first place at the end of games on July 6th.
