Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters (9-14-1-0) couldn't find much against the Oshawa Generals, who dominated from start to finish as they grabbed a 10-3 decision over Erie Friday night at General Motors Centre.
The Generals took control of the game early as Alain Berger scored 2:13 into the contest. Christian Thomas, who missed the first meeting between the two teams on October 30, scored shorthanded at 6:53 and Lucas Lessio added the third tally of the period at 11:54 that chased Ramis Sadikov out of the net for Chris Festarini. Oshawa outshot Erie, 13-7, in the first 20 minutes.
The second period was much of the same, as Oshawa tacked on four throughout the middle frame that included a pair of power play goals and another shorthanded marker. Anthony Luciani scored the only goal for the Otters in the period at 11:55 after the conclusion of a power play as he roofed it under the crossbar for his fifth of the season.
The Otters made things a little interesting in the third period as Greg McKegg ripped a shot off the post for his team-leading 14th goal of the season at 6:12 and Luciani added his second tally on the power play at 11:21 to make it a 7-3 contest, but the Generals rallied for three more goals as Thomas completed his hat trick.
The ten goals were the most given up by Erie since they lost 10-5 in Niagara on March 2, 2008. The seven-goal losing margin was the most since Erie fell to London, 8-1, on December 14, 2007. Thomas was sensational for the Generals, with a six point night.
The Otters complete their road trip Saturday night in Barrie as they faceoff against the Colts at 7:30 p.m.. Fans can listen to the game live on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or online at ottershockey.com (courtesy of the James H. Cross Company).
Join the Otters for the Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Lake Erie Spine and Injury Center Thanksgiving Night when the Otters welcome the Belleville Bulls for a 7:00 p.m. start. Fans that donate a new or gently used stuffed animal to the Otters front office or to the game will receive a free ticket good for the games on November 27 or 28.
