
Otters Hang on to Defeat Wild Things 6-5

Washington, Pa - The Washington Wild Things fell to the Evansville Otters by a score of 6-5 Sunday afternoon at CONSOL Energy Park.
The Otters tallied four runs in the first inning, but Washington answered in the third when Sam Mende singled and drove in Andrew Heck. Later in the inning Austin Wobrock belted a three run double to knot the score at four.
Josh Allen smacked a solo shot to right field in the fourth inning to regain the lead for Evansville. The Otters went on to score another run in the eighth inning, but Washington would not go down easily.
In the bottom of the ninth inning David Popkins drove in Danny Poma when he doubled, pulling Washington to within a run, but Evansville was able to maintain their lead, and Washington fell by a score of 6-5.
Jeremy Holcombe suffered the loss for Washington allowing five runs on six hits and striking out three in five innings of work.
The Wild Things travel to Schaumburg for a three-game set against the Boomers; the team returns to CONSOL Energy Park for the final series of the 2015 regular season Friday through Sunday when they will host the Windy City Thunderbolts. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park box office.
