
Slammers Shut out by Windy City 3-0 on Sunday

Crestwood, IL The Joliet Slammers (38-52) were blanked by Windy City (39-51) 3-0 to close out the three game series.
Thunderbolts starter Dyllon Nuernberg turned in an outstanding performance in earning the win. He went 8 innings and allowed no runs on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks. He got out of a few early jams and retired ten straight at one point. Nuernberg has now thrown 15 straight scoreless innings after coming off the injured list. Spencer Medick (1-4) took the loss in a quality start. He allowed three runs on 8 hits with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Tommy Nance earned the save for Windy City with a perfect 9th.
Alex Chittenden's RBI double was the big hit for the Thunderbolts. They also picked up runs on a sacrifice fly and RBI grounder. Joliet now opens a three game road series on Tuesday with Lake Erie. The Slammers return home on Friday, Sept. 4th at 7:05pm to open the season-ending three game series vs. Rockford. The opener will be a Fireworks Friday and will be Halloween as well. Dress up and receive a drink voucher. Saturday at 6:05pm will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night and Sunday at 5:05pm closes out the regular season with Fan Appreciation Night. The Joliet Slammers, presented by ATI Physical Therapy, play at Silver Cross Field in downtown Joliet, Illinois, and are members of the professional, independent Frontier League.
