Otters Game Preview & Game Notes

May 15, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters, the oldest current team in the Frontier League, will begin their 21st year of play with a home opener tonight against the Traverse City Beach Bums.

It is the first of a three game series against the Beach Bums, with tonight's game starting at 6:35 P.M. CDT. Tonight's game features a pitching matchup between Will Oliver (3-1, 1.94 ERA last season for the Otters) and Luis DeJesus (3-3, 5.66 ERA for three Cleveland affiliate teams).

Otters' manager, Andy McCauley, in his sixth season with the club, has improved the team's win total every single season with last year's 54 wins setting a new franchise record. He brings back Bench Coach Boots Day and Pitching Coach Max Peterson in addition to newcomer Dalphie Correa (who played for him in the Frontier League in 1999 when McCauley managed the London Werewolves).

The core of last year's record setting team is back including league MVP Shayne Houck and outfielder Chris Sweeney, whose 21 home runs last year would have been a team record if not for Houck's 23 blasts.

Game two of the series will be tomorrow night at the same time (6:35 P.M. CDT) while Sunday's game will be a 5:05 P.M. CDT start.

Tonight's game is only available on our website at EvansvilleOtters.com. In order to watch and listen to the game just click on "Watch Live," and you will be automatically directed to the sights and sounds of the game (clicking on "listen live" will take you to the University of Evansville baseball broadcast so please do not click on that if you wish to watch and listen to the Otters).

Reserved Box Seat tickets are $9 and general admission is just $6.

Fans can purchase tickets by calling the team's front office at 812.435.8686.
