Normal CornBelters News Release
NORMAL, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have expanded the ability for fans to follow the team's live broadcasts for the 2015 season online and over the air. The CornBelters will play their first home on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:35 p.m. versus the Gateway Grizzlies ("CEFCU Opening Night").
The CornBelters have renewed a partnership that will carry all 96 regular season games and any playoff contests worldwide on computers, smartphones and tablets on WJBC.com, and approximately 80 games over the air throughout Central Illinois on WEZC-FM 95.9. Selected games will also air on WJBC-AM 1230.
Greg Halbleib returns for his fifth season behind the microphone for all CornBelters broadcasts. He will implement a new 60-second feature called Crib Notes to air twice daily on WJBC, and will also provide a weekly Belters update every Thursday at 9:40 a.m. on WEZC sister station WHOW-AM 1520. As the flagship of the WJBC Normal CornBelters radio network, WJBC-AM 1230 also will broadcast live from the Corn Crib periodically throughout the season during the afternoon show with Tim Lewis and the evening Sports Talk. CornBelters manager Brooks Carey will continue his regular interviews during the WJBC morning show with Scott Laughlin and on Sports Talk.
The Belters and Radio Bloomington (WJBC, WBNQ 101.5 and B-104) have also expanded a marketing partnership that will involve ticket giveaways, live broadcasts from the Corn Crib and a variety of promotional activities.
"Radio Bloomington has a long-standing commitment of community partnerships," said Radio Bloomington Market Manager Red Pitcher. "We have long supported the CornBelters and take great pride in partnering with (general manager) Steve Malliet and his team of professionals. We look forward to providing area baseball fans with updates, interviews and great promotional opportunities at the Corn Crib."
WEZC president and general manager Randal J. Miller said his station was pleased to bring CornBelters baseball back to 95.9 FM. Miller added, "With WEZC's signal and audience reach from Bloomington-Normal to Decatur and Springfield to Champaign, we look forward again promoting our local baseball team across Central Illinois."
