Evansville Otters News Release

Aug. 19, 2008, Evansville, Ind. - Evansville welcomed in the Midwest Sliders to start a six game home stand, and the Sliders clutch hitting helped them to a 6-3 victory on Tuesday night at Bosse Field.

The Sliders never trailed in the game, scoring five out of their six runs with two outs. They opened up the game with one run in the first inning and tacked on three runs in the second. The Otters were able to climb back into the game as two runs came in on a second inning home run by Issac Omura; Evansville cut the lead to 4-3 on a Nick Jaros RBI single in the sixth but that was as close as they would get.

Former Evansville Purple Ace Kai Tuomi (2-3) started the game and settled down after the first two innings, throwing six while striking out five. Sliders' pitcher Kyle Kearcher (6-5) was terrific on the mound allowing only five hits, striking out 10 in seven innings.

Evansville heads back to the field for game two on Wednesday night with first pitch slated for 7:05 CDT on dollar hot dog night at Bosse Field.
