Traverse City, MI - David Nathanson returned from the injured reserve list and carried a no-hitter with him into the sixth as the Traverse City Beach Bums pitching staff combined for their eleventh shutout of the season on way to a 3-0 win over River City Tuesday night.

Nathanson (10-2) won for the second time and improved to 2-0 against the Rascals going seven innings while striking out five and allowing two hits.

Scott Fogelson started for River City and allowed just three runs, two earned in 5 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts.

The all-star left hander fell into trouble in the fourth when second baseman Steve Young doubled to start the inning. Zach Kalter then reached after beating out a bunt which also moved Young to third. Kyle Maunus drove home Young with a ground ball. Kalter would later score on a wild pitch and an error by catcher Andrew Sweet when he threw the ball into left field in an attempt to get the runner. By the end of the fourth it was 2-0 Beach Bums.

The Rascals finally broke through with a hit by Luke Barganier, but it was just an infield single in the sixth. Phil Laurent would later single in the seventh off Nathanson. Jeff Miller collected the final Rascal hit in the ninth off closer Jeff Williams who notched his thirteenth save of the season.

The Beach Bums added their final run on a Pat Perry RBI single in the sixth off Fogelson who dropped to 4-9.
