Otters drop heartbreaker

Nick Saunders delivered a sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to lift the River City Rascals to a 6-5 win over the Evansville Otters on Sunday night.

The Rascals were up 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning before the Otters rallied to tie it. With one out, Rickey Clinton singled.

Brian McKenna doubled home Clinton making it 3-1. Frank Scott then ignited the crowd with his first homer of the season to make it 3-3.

The Otters took the lead in the seventh when Clinton delivered a single to score Jud Kindle and Trask Munoz to make it 5-3 Evansville.

Holding that lead into the ninth, the Rascals put their first two men on second and third with no one out. After Michael Conner grounded out to score one run and made it 4-3. Mike Madrid followed with a single to score Anthony Slagle and tie the game at 5-5.

The game would remain tied into the 11th. River City loaded the bases with nobody out. After Anthony Del Prete got Mikela Olsen to pop out, Saunders delivered his sac fly.

Tomorrow finished the series with All-Star Ben Foster (5-2) taking the mound for the Otters against Tony Marsala (2-0) for River City. It is Newspapers in Education day as the first 1,000 fans 12 and under will receive Otters team card sets courtesy of Newspapers in Education.
