Otters selections in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection presented by State Farm

1st round, 1st overall - C Connor McDavid (33-39-72 in 33 games, 14 PIM) - Toronto Marlboros - Just the third player to receive "exceptional status" into the OHL, McDavid is considered by many to be a potential superstar. According to OHL Central Scouting, McDavid has all the skill and tools to be very exciting and dominate at the next level. He controls the puck as if it were on a string and has the ability to make everyone around him a better player. He is also a fierce competitor and does whatever it takes to win a game.

2nd round via Windsor - 27th overall - C Kyle Pettit (18-22-40 in 41 games, 26 PIM) - London Jr. Knights - A big body at 6'2", Pettit is a physical center who likes to pattern his game after former Red Wings and Team Canada center Kris Draper.

2nd round via Sudbury - 35th overall - D Justin Felker (4-28-32 in 54 games, 28 PIM) - Southern Tier Admirals - According to OHL Central Scouting, Felker is a player that is definitely going the right way on the development curve. He plays with poise and is smooth with the puck. Justin has a very good skill set which allows him to make good crisp breakout passes. He is also very good on the offensive blueline at even strength and on the powerplay. Justin uses his size to his advantage in all three zones which makes him pretty intimidating. He is going to be a very good versatile defenceman at the OHL level.

3rd round - 44th overall - RW Hayden Hodgson (29-25-54 in 42 games, 82 PIM) - Sun County Panthers - A talented athlete who also participates in baseball and golf, the 6'1", 185-pound Hodgson is a physical presence who finishes well around the net.

3rd round via Sarnia - 55th overall - D Riley Robertson (4-8-12 in 34 games, 24 PIM) - Grey-Bruce Highlanders - Perhaps the biggest player available in the OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-6 blueliner likes to model his game after the towering Zdeno Chara and was solid in all situations for the Highlanders.

5th round - 84th overall - D Darren Raddysh - (10-22-32, 14 PIM) - Toronto Marlboros - A teammate of McDavid with the Marlies, the right-handed shot excels at both ends of the ice from the blue line and is a hard worker.

6th round - 104th overall - RW Thomas Lattavo - (9-6-15 in 19 games) - Toronto Young Nats - A mean power forward who would skate through a wall for his teammates. Good size.

6th round via Sarnia - 115th overall - D Greg Allen (2-15-17, 24 PIM) - Toronto Marlboros - Big, strong shutdown type defenseman who brings character and leadership.

8th round - 144th overall - G Daniel Dekoning (14-5-3, 1.95 GAA, .925 save percentage) - Huron-Perth Lakers - A goaltender with a long, lean build with a good butterfly that covers a large portion of the bottom of the net. Moves well and plays an efficient game moving from mark to mark with no wasted movement.

9th round - 164th overall - D Travis Dermott (2-6-8 in 17 games, 12 PIM) - York-Simcoe Express - Has a potential as a puck-moving defenseman. Assistant captain of the Express and a late-birthday.

10th round - 184th overall - C/LW Dylan Larkin (13-7-20 in 20 games, 16 PIM) - Detroit Belle Tire - A highly skilled centre that is very dangerous with the puck on his stick. He is the type of player that you notice everytime he is on the ice because his feet are always in motion and he never lets the opponent relax at any point during the game.

11th round - 204th overall - C Quentin Maksimovich (4-14-18 in 33 games, 10 PIM) - Toronto Jr. Canadiens - Another big body at 6-foot-3, he had a preseason growth spurt and is a very responsible player in his own end.

13th round - 244th overall - C Bryan Sienerth (13-16-29 in 33 games, 32 PIM) - Pittsburgh Hornets - A honor roll student at Cathedral Prep, the Erie native has good speed and is a hard worker. The third player from Erie to be drafted by the Otters.

14th round - 264th overall - D Nathan Kohler (2-23-25 in 38 games, 32 PIM) - Brantford 99ers - A defenseman who can make a good first pass out of the zone.

15th round via Ottawa - 300th overall - G Jake Ireland (No stats available) - Don Mills Flyers - The son of Owen Sound Attack head coach Greg Ireland, this goaltender has a 1995-born birthdate.
