
Otters Begin Five Day, Six Game Homestand against the Joliet Slammers

(EVANSVILLE INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (41-26) start a six-game homestand with a three-game series against the Joliet Slammers (27-42).
First pitch is set for 5:35 pm CDT at historic Bosse Field in Evansville Indiana. Fans can call 812-435-8686 to purchase tickets.
Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org . Play by play announcer Mike Radomski and color commentator Bill McKeon will have the call beginning at 5:15 pm CDT.
It is Honey Baked Ham night at Bosse Field. There is also a doubleheader sponsored by Carson's Brewery. Fans can also enjoy Budweiser Thirsty Thursday with drink specials throughout the evening.
Evansville will have LHP Jose Velez (1-2, 2.25 ERA) on the mound in game one and RHP Trevor Walch (5-0, 2.77 ERA) throwing in game two. Velez will be making his first start this season as Walch has the 8th lowest ERA in the Frontier League.
The Otters are 12-9 all-time against the Slammers. Evansville won two of three games at Joliet earlier this year (July 4- 6).
The Otters enter this series after a 3-3 roadtrip to first place River City and playoff hopeful Lake Erie. Evansville won their last game 7-3 at Lake Erie on Monday. Outfielder Jeremy Nowak was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Infielder Cory Urquhart tied a career high with three hits and RHP Preston Olson (6-3) went 7.0 innings, allowing three runs, for his 10th quality start of the season.
The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on July 16. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.
Infielder Phillip Wilson is on an Otters season-high 14 game hitting streak. Outfielder Chris Elder has hit safely in eight straight games. Infielder Shayne Houck is on a six game hitting streak.
The Otters are 21-13 at home this season and 10-6 in doubleheaders this season.
