Evansville Otters News Release
CHILLICOTHE, OH â In a game that featured three ejections and numerous unusual plays, the Evansville Otters topped the Chillicothe Paints 8-3.
The Otters scored three in the first inning on a double by Cole Hilt and a homerun by Carlos Brackley gave Evansville a 3-0 lead before the Paints got to bat.
The game would go along in a relatively calm manner until the ninth inning when on a bunt play, Dustin Brisson appeared to tag out Steve Martin running down the first base line. However, the umpire ruled that Brisson missed the tag, putting runners on first and second. Paints' manager Jamie Keefe argued the call and was ejected from the game.
Before a pitch could be delivered to the next batter, the home plate umpire ejected Paints' outfielder Mike Navratil for continuing to argue from the dugout. Before it was all said and done, pitching coach Ryan Sawyers was also tossed from the contest.
Heath Heiberger picked up the win for Evansville going seven innings allowing six hits and one earned run. Amad Stephens came in with the tying run on-deck in the eighth and closed out the final two innings of the game for his eighth save of the season.
Andre Simpson goes tomorrow for Evansville against Michael Kesten for Chillicothe.
