Washington Wild Things News Release

The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, continued their torrid hitting and ruined Florence's inaugural game at Champion Window Field Friday night, beating the Freedom 10-6.

The Wild Things (17-10) scored early and often, beginning with one run in the first. Washington added another run in the second and two runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead.

In the third, Florence (10-18) cut the deficit in half when J.D. Foust hit a two-run homerun over the left-field wall. Mike Arbinger answered in the fifth with a two-run shot, his first as a Wild Thing.

Washington, which remains in a fierce battle with Evansville for first place, would put the game away in the seventh, scoring three runs on four singles.

Matt McDonnell (3-1) got the win, pitching five innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Florence's Eric Fisher (3-2) gave up six runs on 10 hits in five innings. Washington reliever B.J. Borsa came into the game with one out in the ninth to register his eighth save of the season.

The Wild Things continue their series with Florence tomorrow at 7:05 and will begin a home series against the Windy City Thunderbolts on Tuesday. Tickets are still available and can be ordered at Falconi Field or online at www.washingtonwildthings.com.
