Otters Announce Season Schedule

The Ontario Hockey League Thursday released the schedule of games for the 2013-2014 season.

The Otters open their 18th season of OHL play with five straight games on the road, while renovations are being completed to the Erie Insurance Arena. The journey will begin on Friday, September 20 against the Guelph Storm. They will return to Erie Insurance Arena for their 2013-14 home opener at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 against the North Bay Battalion.

The Otters will play 24 of 34 home games on weekends: including eight Fridays, 15 Saturdays, and one Sunday.

The Otters will host many specialty games throughout the season highlighted by the annual Thanksgiving evening game on Thursday November 28 starting at 7:00, against the Guelph Storm, after an 8 year run of the Otters hosting Bellville on thanksgiving. New to the schedule is a Veterans Day game on Monday November 11 with a 2:00 versus the Niagara IceDogs. The following week highlights the inaugural Hockey Hooky game with an 11am start against the Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday November 19. The last specialty game will be a New Years Eve slate between the Otters and the Kitchener Rangers at the Erie Insurance Arena with a puck drop of 6:00. The home schedule concludes Saturday, March 15 against the Sarnia Sting.

2013-2014 Otters Schedule Highlights:

Home Opener: Saturday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. against the North Bay Battalion.

Veterans Day Game, Monday November 11 2:00.

Hockey Hooky Game, Tuesday November 19, 11 am against Kitchener.

Annual Thanksgiving Game will take place on Thursday, November 28 against the Guelph Storm.

New Years Eve Game, 6:00 on Dec. 31 hosting the Kitchener Rangers.

Home Game Breakdown: 15 Saturdays; 8 Fridays; five Wednesdays; three Thursdays; one Monday; one Tuesday; and one Sunday.

Longest Home Stand: six games (November 8-November 19)
